2 He also defeated Moab, and Moab became tributary to king David. 3 He defeated Adarezer, king of Soba in the Hemath country, when he marched out to extend his domains up to the river Euphrates; 4 a thousand chariots he took from him, with seven thousand horsemen, and twenty thousand that fought on foot, and cut the hamstrings of the horses, but kept a hundred teams for himself. 5 When the Syrians of Damascus came out to reinforce Adarezer king of Soba, David routed their army of twenty-two thousand, 6 and put a garrison of his own in Damascus, to make Syria his tributary vassal. In every enterprise he undertook, the Lord stood by him. |
7 καὶ ἔλαβεν Δαυιδ τοὺς κλοιοὺς τοὺς χρυσοῦς οἳ ἦσαν ἐπὶ τοὺς παῖδας Αδρααζαρ καὶ ἤνεγκεν αὐτοὺς εἰς Ιερουσαλημ 8 καὶ ἐκ τῆς μεταβηχας καὶ ἐκ τῶν ἐκλεκτῶν πόλεων τῶν Αδρααζαρ ἔλαβεν Δαυιδ χαλκὸν πολὺν σφόδρα ἐξ αὐτοῦ ἐποίησεν Σαλωμων τὴν θάλασσαν τὴν χαλκῆν καὶ τοὺς στύλους καὶ τὰ σκεύη τὰ χαλκᾶ 9 καὶ ἤκουσεν Θωα βασιλεὺς Ημαθ ὅτι ἐπάταξεν Δαυιδ τὴν πᾶσαν δύναμιν Αδρααζαρ βασιλέως Σουβα 10 καὶ ἀπέστειλεν τὸν Ιδουραμ υἱὸν αὐτοῦ πρὸς τὸν βασιλέα Δαυιδ τοῦ ἐρωτῆσαι αὐτὸν τὰ εἰς εἰρήνην καὶ τοῦ εὐλογῆσαι αὐτὸν ὑπὲρ οὗ ἐπολέμησεν τὸν Αδρααζαρ καὶ ἐπάταξεν αὐτόν ὅτι ἀνὴρ πολέμιος Θωα ἦν τῷ Αδρααζαρ καὶ πάντα τὰ σκεύη ἀργυρᾶ καὶ χρυσᾶ 11 καὶ ταῦτα ἡγίασεν Δαυιδ τῷ κυρίῳ μετὰ τοῦ ἀργυρίου καὶ τοῦ χρυσίου οὗ ἔλαβεν ἐκ πάντων τῶν ἐθνῶν ἐξ Ιδουμαίας καὶ Μωαβ καὶ ἐξ υἱῶν Αμμων καὶ ἐκ τῶν ἀλλοφύλων καὶ ἐξ Αμαληκ | 7 All the golden trappings which Adarezer’s men wore, David carried off and brought to Jerusalem; 8 from Thebath, too, and from Chun, cities in Adarezer’s dominion, he carried away great stores of bronze, that Solomon used afterwards for the basin, the pillars, and the other brazen furnishings of the temple. 9 When the news of David’s victory over Adarezer’s forces reached Thou, king of Hemath, 10 he sent his son Adoram to make a treaty with him, and to wish him well over the conquest and rout of Adarezer, who was Thou’s enemy. 11 All the gold and silver and bronze ornaments, all the silver and the gold he took from so many nations, Edomites, Moabites, Ammonites, Philistines and Amalecites, king David consecrated to the Lord. | 7 Tulit quoque David pharetras aureas, quas habuerant servi Adarezer, et attulit eas in Jerusalem. |
12 καὶ Αβεσσα υἱὸς Σαρουια ἐπάταξεν τὴν Ιδουμαίαν ἐν κοιλάδι τῶν ἁλῶν ὀκτὼ καὶ δέκα χιλιάδας 13 καὶ ἔθετο ἐν τῇ κοιλάδι φρουράς καὶ ἦσαν πάντες οἱ Ιδουμαῖοι παῖδες Δαυιδ καὶ ἔσῳζεν κύριος τὸν Δαυιδ ἐν πᾶσιν οἷς ἐπορεύετο 14 καὶ ἐβασίλευσεν Δαυιδ ἐπὶ πάντα Ισραηλ καὶ ἦν ποιῶν κρίμα καὶ δικαιοσύνην τῷ παντὶ λαῷ αὐτοῦ 15 καὶ Ιωαβ υἱὸς Σαρουια ἐπὶ τῆς στρατιᾶς καὶ Ιωσαφατ υἱὸς Αχιλουδ ὑπομνηματογράφος 16 καὶ Σαδωκ υἱὸς Αχιτωβ καὶ Αχιμελεχ υἱὸς Αβιαθαρ ἱερεῖς καὶ Σουσα γραμματεὺς 17 καὶ Βαναιας υἱὸς Ιωδαε ἐπὶ τοῦ χερεθθι καὶ τοῦ φελεθθι καὶ υἱοὶ Δαυιδ οἱ πρῶτοι διάδοχοι τοῦ βασιλέως | 12 It was Abisai, son of Sarvia, that defeated eighteen thousand Edomites in the Valley of the Salt-pits, 13 and put a garrison in Edom to secure its loyalty to king David. Thus the Lord protected David in all his enterprises; 14 the whole of Israel was under his rule, and to all his people he administered justice and gave award. 15 His army was commanded by Joab, son of Sarvia, and Josaphat, son of Ahilud, kept the records; 16 the priests were Sadoc, son of Achitob, and Achimelech, son of Abiathar, and Susa was secretary; 17 Banaias, son of Joiada was at the head of the Cerethites and Phelethites, and David’s sons, too, held high office about the king’s person.[1] | 12 Abisai vero filius Sarviæ percussit Edom in valle Salinarum, decem et octo millia: 13 et constituit in Edom præsidium, ut serviret Idumæa David: salvavitque Dominus David in cunctis ad quæ perrexerat. 14 Regnavit ergo David super universum Israël, et faciebat judicium atque justitiam cuncto populo suo. 15 Porro Joab filius Sarviæ erat super exercitum, et Josaphat filius Ahilud a commentariis: 16 Sadoc autem filius Achitob, et Ahimelech filius Abiathar, sacerdotes: et Susa, scriba: 17 Banaias quoque filius Jojadæ super legiones Cerethi et Phelethi: porro filii David, primi ad manum regis. |
