1 ψαλμὸς τῷ Δαυιδ ὃν ᾖσεν τῷ κυρίῳ ὑπὲρ τῶν λόγων Χουσι υἱοῦ Ιεμενι 1 (A lament of David’s, which he sang to the Lord because of Chus, the Benjamite.) 1 Psalmus David, quem cantavit Domino pro verbis Chusi, filii Jemini.
2 κύριε ὁ θεός μου ἐπὶ σοὶ ἤλπισα σῶσόν με ἐκ πάντων τῶν διωκόντων με καὶ ῥῦσαί με 3 μήποτε ἁρπάσῃ ὡς λέων τὴν ψυχήν μου μὴ ὄντος λυτρουμένου μηδὲ σῴζοντος 4 κύριε ὁ θεός μου εἰ ἐποίησα τοῦτο εἰ ἔστιν ἀδικία ἐν χερσίν μου 5 εἰ ἀνταπέδωκα τοῖς ἀνταποδιδοῦσίν μοι κακά ἀποπέσοιν ἄρα ἀπὸ τῶν ἐχθρῶν μου κενός 6 καταδιώξαι ἄρα ὁ ἐχθρὸς τὴν ψυχήν μου καὶ καταλάβοι καὶ καταπατήσαι εἰς γῆν τὴν ζωήν μου καὶ τὴν δόξαν μου εἰς χοῦν κατασκηνώσαι διάψαλμα 7 ἀνάστηθι κύριε ἐν ὀργῇ σου ὑψώθητι ἐν τοῖς πέρασι τῶν ἐχθρῶν μου ἐξεγέρθητι κύριε ὁ θεός μου ἐν προστάγματι ᾧ ἐνετείλω 8 καὶ συναγωγὴ λαῶν κυκλώσει σε καὶ ὑπὲρ ταύτης εἰς ὕψος ἐπίστρεψον 9 κύριος κρινεῖ λαούς κρῖνόν με κύριε κατὰ τὴν δικαιοσύνην μου καὶ κατὰ τὴν ἀκακίαν μου ἐ{P'} ἐμοί 10 συντελεσθήτω δὴ πονηρία ἁμαρτωλῶν καὶ κατευθυνεῖς δίκαιον ἐτάζων καρδίας καὶ νεφροὺς ὁ θεός 11 δικαία ἡ βοήθειά μου παρὰ τοῦ θεοῦ τοῦ σῴζοντος τοὺς εὐθεῖς τῇ καρδίᾳ 12 ὁ θεὸς κριτὴς δίκαιος καὶ ἰσχυρὸς καὶ μακρόθυμος μὴ ὀργὴν ἐπάγων κα{Q'} ἑκάστην ἡμέραν 13 ἐὰν μὴ ἐπιστραφῆτε τὴν ῥομφαίαν αὐτοῦ στιλβώσει τὸ τόξον αὐτοῦ ἐνέτεινεν καὶ ἡτοίμασεν αὐτὸ 14 καὶ ἐν αὐτῷ ἡτοίμασεν σκεύη θανάτου τὰ βέλη αὐτοῦ τοῖς καιομένοις ἐξειργάσατο 15 ἰδοὺ ὠδίνησεν ἀδικίαν συνέλαβεν πόνον καὶ ἔτεκεν ἀνομίαν 16 λάκκον ὤρυξεν καὶ ἀνέσκαψεν αὐτὸν καὶ ἐμπεσεῖται εἰς βόθρον ὃν εἰργάσατο 17 ἐπιστρέψει ὁ πόνος αὐτοῦ εἰς κεφαλὴν αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐπὶ κορυφὴν αὐτοῦ ἡ ἀδικία αὐτοῦ καταβήσεται 18 ἐξομολογήσομαι κυρίῳ κατὰ τὴν δικαιοσύνην αὐτοῦ καὶ ψαλῶ τῷ ὀνόματι κυρίου τοῦ ὑψίστου 2 O Lord my God, my confidence is in thee; save me from all my pursuers, and grant me deliverance: 3 else must I fall a helpless prey to the lion, be torn in pieces, with none to bring me aid. 4 O Lord my God, if I too have been at fault, if these hands are stained with guilt; 5 if I have been a false friend, and not rather spared even those that wronged me, 6 then indeed let some enemy overtake me with his relentless pursuit, trample me to earth, and level my pride with the dust! 7 Lord, rise up in thy anger, countervail the malice of my enemies; bestir thyself, O Lord my God, in defence of the laws thou thyself hast given us. 8 All the nations will gather about thee, if thou wilt come back to thy throne and rule them, 9 the Lord judging the nations! Give me redress, Lord, in my uprightness, in all the innocence of my heart. 10 Surely thou wilt put an end to the wrong-doing of the wicked, and prosper the innocent; no thought or desire of ours can escape the scrutiny of thy divine justice. 11 From the Lord, refuge of true hearts, my protection comes. 12 God judges ever true; day by day his indignation mounts up; 13 if they do not repent, his sword will flash bright; he has bent and aimed his bow; 14 deadly are the weapons he is preparing for them; he has barbed his arrows with fire. 15 Here was a heart pregnant with malice, that conceived only spite, and gave birth only to empty promise! 16 Here was one who dug a pit and sunk it deep, and fell into a snare of his own setting! 17 All his spite will recoil on himself, all his violence will fall his own head. 18 I will ever thank the Lord for his just retribution, singing praises to the name of the Lord, the most High. 2 Domine Deus meus, in te speravi;
salvum me fac ex omnibus persequentibus me, et libera me:
3
nequando rapiat ut leo animam meam,
dum non est qui redimat, neque qui salvum faciat.
4
Domine Deus meus, si feci istud,
si est iniquitas in manibus meis,
5
si reddidi retribuentibus mihi mala,
decidam merito ab inimicis meis inanis.
6
Persequatur inimicus animam meam, et comprehendat;
et conculcet in terra vitam meam,
et gloriam meam in pulverem deducat.
7
Exsurge, Domine, in ira tua,
et exaltare in finibus inimicorum meorum:
et exsurge, Domine Deus meus, in præcepto quod mandasti,
8
et synagoga populorum circumdabit te:
et propter hanc in altum regredere:
9
Dominus judicat populos.
Judica me, Domine, secundum justitiam meam,
et secundum innocentiam meam super me.
10
Consumetur nequitia peccatorum, et diriges justum,
scrutans corda et renes, Deus.
11
Justum adjutorium meum a Domino,
qui salvos facit rectos corde.
12
Deus judex justus, fortis, et patiens;
numquid irascitur per singulos dies?
13
Nisi conversi fueritis, gladium suum vibrabit;
arcum suum tetendit, et paravit illum.
14
Et in eo paravit vasa mortis,
sagittas suas ardentibus effecit.
15
Ecce parturiit injustitiam;
concepit dolorem, et peperit iniquitatem.
16
Lacum aperuit, et effodit eum;
et incidit in foveam quam fecit.
17
Convertetur dolor ejus in caput ejus,
et in verticem ipsius iniquitas ejus descendet.
18
Confitebor Domino secundum justitiam ejus,
et psallam nomini Domini altissimi.
