 (Alleluia.) Alleluja.
1 αλληλουια ἐν ἐξόδῳ Ισραηλ ἐξ Αἰγύπτου οἴκου Ιακωβ ἐκ λαοῦ βαρβάρου 2 ἐγενήθη Ιουδαία ἁγίασμα αὐτοῦ Ισραηλ ἐξουσία αὐτοῦ 3 ἡ θάλασσα εἶδεν καὶ ἔφυγεν ὁ Ιορδάνης ἐστράφη εἰς τὰ ὀπίσω 4 τὰ ὄρη ἐσκίρτησαν ὡσεὶ κριοὶ καὶ οἱ βουνοὶ ὡς ἀρνία προβάτων 5 τί σοί ἐστιν θάλασσα ὅτι ἔφυγες καὶ σοί Ιορδάνη ὅτι ἀνεχώρησας εἰς τὰ ὀπίσω 6 τὰ ὄρη ὅτι ἐσκιρτήσατε ὡσεὶ κριοί καὶ οἱ βουνοὶ ὡς ἀρνία προβάτων 7 ἀπὸ προσώπου κυρίου ἐσαλεύθη ἡ γῆ ἀπὸ προσώπου τοῦ θεοῦ Ιακωβ 8 τοῦ στρέψαντος τὴν πέτραν εἰς λίμνας ὑδάτων καὶ τὴν ἀκρότομον εἰς πηγὰς ὑδάτων 1 When Israel came out of Egypt, and the sons of Jacob heard no more a strange language, 2 the Lord took Juda for his sanctuary, Israel for his own dominion. 3 The seas fled at the sight they witnessed, backward flowed the stream of Jordan; 4 up leapt, like rams, the startled mountains, up leapt the hills, like yearling sheep. 5 What ailed you, seas, that you fled in terror, Jordan’s stream, what drove thee back? 6 Why did you leap up like rams, you mountains, leap up, you hills, like yearling sheep? 7 Let earth thrill at its Master’s presence; it is he that comes, the God of Jacob, 8 who turned the rock into pools of water, the flint-stone into a springing well. 1 In exitu Israël de Ægypto,
domus Jacob de populo barbaro,
2
facta est Judæa sanctificatio ejus;
Israël potestas ejus.
3
Mare vidit, et fugit;
Jordanis conversus est retrorsum.
4
Montes exsultaverunt ut arietes,
et colles sicut agni ovium.
5
Quid est tibi, mare, quod fugisti?
et tu, Jordanis, quia conversus es retrorsum?
6
montes, exsultastis sicut arietes?
et colles, sicut agni ovium?
7
A facie Domini mota est terra,
a facie Dei Jacob:
8
qui convertit petram in stagna aquarum,
et rupem in fontes aquarum.
11 Our God is a God that dwells in heaven; all that his will designs, he executes. 12 The heathen have silver idols and golden, gods which the hands of men have fashioned. 13 They have mouths, and yet are silent; eyes they have, and yet are sightless; 14 ears they have, and want all hearing; noses, and yet no smell can reach them; 15 hands unfeeling, feet unstirring; never a sound their throats may utter. 16 Such be the end of all who make them, such the reward of all who trust them. 17 It is the Lord that gives hope to the race of Israel, their only help, their only stronghold; 18 the Lord that gives hope to the race of Aaron, their only help, their only stronghold; 19 the Lord that gives hope to all who fear him, their only help, their only stronghold. 20 The Lord keeps us in mind, and grants us blessing, blesses the race of Israel, blesses the race of Aaron; 21 all those who fear the Lord, small and great alike, he blesses. 22 Still may the Lord grant you increase, you and your children after you; 23 the blessing of the Lord be upon you. It is he that made both heaven and earth; 24 to the Lord belongs the heaven of heavens, the earth he gives to the children of men. 25 From the dead, Lord, thou hast no praises, the men who go down into the place of silence; 26 but we bless the Lord, we, the living, from this day to all eternity. 9
Non nobis, Domine, non nobis,
sed nomini tuo da gloriam:
10
super misericordia tua et veritate tua;
nequando dicant gentes:
Ubi est Deus eorum?
11
Deus autem noster in cælo;
omnia quæcumque voluit fecit.
12
Simulacra gentium argentum et aurum,
opera manuum hominum.
13
Os habent, et non loquentur;
oculos habent, et non videbunt.
14
Aures habent, et non audient;
nares habent, et non odorabunt.
15
Manus habent, et non palpabunt;
pedes habent, et non ambulabunt;
non clamabunt in gutture suo.
16
Similes illis fiant qui faciunt ea,
et omnes qui confidunt in eis.
17
Domus Israël speravit in Domino;
adjutor eorum et protector eorum est.
18
Domus Aaron speravit in Domino;
adjutor eorum et protector eorum est.
19
20
Dominus memor fuit nostri,
et benedixit nobis.
Benedixit domui Israël;
benedixit domui Aaron.
21
Benedixit omnibus qui timent Dominum,
pusillis cum majoribus.
22
Adjiciat Dominus super vos,
super vos et super filios vestros.
23
Benedicti vos a Domino,
qui fecit cælum et terram.
24
Cælum cæli Domino;
terram autem dedit filiis hominum.
25
Non mortui laudabunt te, Domine,
neque omnes qui descendunt in infernum:
26
sed nos qui vivimus, benedicimus Domino,
ex hoc nunc et usque in sæculum.
