ψαλμὸς ᾠδῆς εἰς τὴν ἡμέραν τοῦ σαββάτου | (A psalm. A song. On the sabbath day.) | Psalmus cantici, in die sabbati. |
2 ἀγαθὸν τὸ ἐξομολογεῖσθαι τῷ κυρίῳ καὶ ψάλλειν τῷ ὀνόματί σου ὕψιστε 3 τοῦ ἀναγγέλλειν τὸ πρωὶ τὸ ἔλεός σου καὶ τὴν ἀλήθειάν σου κατὰ νύκτα 4 ἐν δεκαχόρδῳ ψαλτηρίῳ με{T'} ᾠδῆς ἐν κιθάρᾳ 5 ὅτι εὔφρανάς με κύριε ἐν τῷ ποιήματί σου καὶ ἐν τοῖς ἔργοις τῶν χειρῶν σου ἀγαλλιάσομαι 6 ὡς ἐμεγαλύνθη τὰ ἔργα σου κύριε σφόδρα ἐβαθύνθησαν οἱ διαλογισμοί σου 7 ἀνὴρ ἄφρων οὐ γνώσεται καὶ ἀσύνετος οὐ συνήσει ταῦτα 8 ἐν τῷ ἀνατεῖλαι τοὺς ἁμαρτωλοὺς ὡς χόρτον καὶ διέκυψαν πάντες οἱ ἐργαζόμενοι τὴν ἀνομίαν ὅπως ἂν ἐξολεθρευθῶσιν εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα τοῦ αἰῶνος 9 σὺ δὲ ὕψιστος εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα κύριε 10 ὅτι ἰδοὺ οἱ ἐχθροί σου ἀπολοῦνται καὶ διασκορπισθήσονται πάντες οἱ ἐργαζόμενοι τὴν ἀνομίαν | 2 Sweet it is to praise the Lord, to sing, most high God, in honour of thy name; 3 to proclaim thy mercy and faithfulness at daybreak and at the fall of night. 4 Here is a theme for ten-stringed harp and viol, for music of voice and zither; 5 so delightsome, Lord, is all thou doest, so thrills my heart at the sight of all thou hast made. 6 How magnificent is thy creation, Lord, how unfathomable are thy purposes! 7 And still, too dull to learn, too slow to grasp his lesson, the wrong-doer goes on in his busy wickedness. 8 Still he thrives, makes a brave show like the grass in spring, yet is he doomed to perish eternally, 9 whilst thou, Lord, art for ever exalted on high. 10 Vanished away thy enemies, Lord, vanished away, and all their busy wickedness scattered to the winds! | 2 Bonum est confiteri Domino, et psallere nomini tuo, Altissime: 3 ad annuntiandum mane misericordiam tuam, et veritatem tuam per noctem, 4 in decachordo, psalterio; cum cantico, in cithara. 5 Quia delectasti me, Domine, in factura tua; et in operibus manuum tuarum exsultabo. |
11 καὶ ὑψωθήσεται ὡς μονοκέρωτος τὸ κέρας μου καὶ τὸ γῆράς μου ἐν ἐλαίῳ πίονι 12 καὶ ἐπεῖδεν ὁ ὀφθαλμός μου ἐν τοῖς ἐχθροῖς μου καὶ ἐν τοῖς ἐπανιστανομένοις ἐ{P'} ἐμὲ πονηρευομένοις ἀκούσεται τὸ οὖς μου 13 δίκαιος ὡς φοῖνιξ ἀνθήσει ὡσεὶ κέδρος ἡ ἐν τῷ Λιβάνῳ πληθυνθήσεται 14 πεφυτευμένοι ἐν τῷ οἴκῳ κυρίου ἐν ταῖς αὐλαῖς τοῦ θεοῦ ἡμῶν ἐξανθήσουσιν 15 ἔτι πληθυνθήσονται ἐν γήρει πίονι καὶ εὐπαθοῦντες ἔσονται 16 τοῦ ἀναγγεῖλαι ὅτι εὐθὴς κύριος ὁ θεός μου καὶ οὐκ ἔστιν ἀδικία ἐν αὐτῷ | 11 Strength thy power gives me, that gives strength to the wild oxen; refreshes me as with the touch of pure oil. 12 Blessed are these eyes with the sight of my enemies’ downfall, these ears with the tidings of insolent malice defeated. 13 The innocent man will flourish as the palm-tree flourishes; he will grow to greatness as the cedars grow on Lebanon. 14 Planted in the temple of the Lord, growing up in the very courts of our God’s house, 15 the innocent will flourish in a green old age, all freshness and vigour still; 16 theirs to proclaim how just is the Lord my refuge, his dealings how clear of wrong. | 11 Et exaltabitur sicut unicornis cornu meum, et senectus mea in misericordia uberi. 12 Et despexit oculus meus inimicos meos, et in insurgentibus in me malignantibus audiet auris mea. 13 Justus ut palma florebit; sicut cedrus Libani multiplicabitur. 14 Plantati in domo Domini, in atriis domus Dei nostri florebunt. |
