1 ψαλμὸς τῷ Ασαφ θεὸς θεῶν κύριος ἐλάλησεν καὶ ἐκάλεσεν τὴν γῆν ἀπὸ ἀνατολῶν ἡλίου καὶ μέχρι δυσμῶν 2 ἐκ Σιων ἡ εὐπρέπεια τῆς ὡραιότητος αὐτοῦ ὁ θεὸς ἐμφανῶς ἥξει 3 ὁ θεὸς ἡμῶν καὶ οὐ παρασιωπήσεται πῦρ ἐναντίον αὐτοῦ καυθήσεται καὶ κύκλῳ αὐτοῦ καταιγὶς σφόδρα 4 προσκαλέσεται τὸν οὐρανὸν ἄνω καὶ τὴν γῆν διακρῖναι τὸν λαὸν αὐτοῦ 5 συναγάγετε αὐτῷ τοὺς ὁσίους αὐτοῦ τοὺς διατιθεμένους τὴν διαθήκην αὐτοῦ ἐπὶ θυσίαις 6 καὶ ἀναγγελοῦσιν οἱ οὐρανοὶ τὴν δικαιοσύνην αὐτοῦ ὅτι ὁ θεὸς κριτής ἐστιν διάψαλμα 1 It is the Lord God that speaks; his message goes out to all the earth, from the sun’s rise to its setting. 2 Out of Sion, in perfect beauty, 3 God comes, revealed; he will keep silence no longer. Before him goes a raging fire; there is a whirling storm round about him. 4 So, from on high, he summons heaven and earth to witness the judgement pronounced on his people: 5 Muster in my presence my faithful servants, who honour my covenant still with sacrifice. 6 The heavens themselves pronounce him just, God who is our judge. 1 Deus deorum Dominus locutus est,
et vocavit terram a solis ortu usque ad occasum.
2
Ex Sion species decoris ejus:
3
Deus manifeste veniet;
Deus noster, et non silebit.
Ignis in conspectu ejus exardescet;
et in circuitu ejus tempestas valida.
4
Advocabit cælum desursum, et terram,
discernere populum suum.
5
Congregate illi sanctos ejus,
qui ordinant testamentum ejus super sacrificia.
6
Et annuntiabunt cæli justitiam ejus,
quoniam Deus judex est.
7 ἄκουσον λαός μου καὶ λαλήσω σοι Ισραηλ καὶ διαμαρτύρομαί σοι ὁ θεὸς ὁ θεός σού εἰμι ἐγώ 8 οὐκ ἐπὶ ταῖς θυσίαις σου ἐλέγξω σε τὰ δὲ ὁλοκαυτώματά σου ἐνώπιόν μού ἐστιν διὰ παντός 9 οὐ δέξομαι ἐκ τοῦ οἴκου σου μόσχους οὐδὲ ἐκ τῶν ποιμνίων σου χιμάρους 10 ὅτι ἐμά ἐστιν πάντα τὰ θηρία τοῦ δρυμοῦ κτήνη ἐν τοῖς ὄρεσιν καὶ βόες 11 ἔγνωκα πάντα τὰ πετεινὰ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ καὶ ὡραιότης ἀγροῦ με{T'} ἐμοῦ ἐστιν 12 ἐὰν πεινάσω οὐ μή σοι εἴπω ἐμὴ γάρ ἐστιν ἡ οἰκουμένη καὶ τὸ πλήρωμα αὐτῆς 13 μὴ φάγομαι κρέα ταύρων ἢ αἷμα τράγων πίομαι 14 θῦσον τῷ θεῷ θυσίαν αἰνέσεως καὶ ἀπόδος τῷ ὑψίστῳ τὰς εὐχάς σου 15 καὶ ἐπικάλεσαί με ἐν ἡμέρᾳ θλίψεως καὶ ἐξελοῦμαί σε καὶ δοξάσεις με διάψαλμα 7 Listen, my people, to these words of mine, listen, Israel, to the protestation I make thee; I, the God thou ownest as God. 8 I do not find fault with thee over thy sacrifices; why, all day long thy burnt-offerings smoke before me. 9 But the gifts I accept are not cattle from thy stock, or buck-goats from thy folds; 10 I own already every wild beast in the forest, the hills are mine, and the herds that people them. 11 There is no bird flies in heaven, no life stirs in the country-side, but I know of it. 12 If I am hungry, I will not complain of it to thee, I, who am master of earth and all that earth contains. 13 Wouldst thou have me eat bull’s flesh, and drink the blood of goats? 14 The sacrifice thou must offer to God is a sacrifice of praise, so wilt thou perform thy vows to the most High. 15 So, when thou criest to me in time of trouble, I will deliver thee; then thou shalt honour me as thou wilt. 7
Audi, populus meus, et loquar;
Israël, et testificabor tibi:
Deus, Deus tuus ego sum.
8
Non in sacrificiis tuis arguam te;
holocausta autem tua in conspectu meo sunt semper.
9
Non accipiam de domo tua vitulos,
neque de gregibus tuis hircos:
10
quoniam meæ sunt omnes feræ silvarum,
jumenta in montibus, et boves.
11
Cognovi omnia volatilia cæli,
et pulchritudo agri mecum est.
12
Si esuriero, non dicam tibi:
meus est enim orbis terræ et plenitudo ejus.
13
Numquid manducabo carnes taurorum?
aut sanguinem hircorum potabo?
14
Immola Deo sacrificium laudis,
et redde Altissimo vota tua.
15
Et invoca me in die tribulationis:
eruam te, et honorificabis me.
16 τῷ δὲ ἁμαρτωλῷ εἶπεν ὁ θεός ἵνα τί σὺ διηγῇ τὰ δικαιώματά μου καὶ ἀναλαμβάνεις τὴν διαθήκην μου διὰ στόματός σου 17 σὺ δὲ ἐμίσησας παιδείαν καὶ ἐξέβαλες τοὺς λόγους μου εἰς τὰ ὀπίσω 18 εἰ ἐθεώρεις κλέπτην συνέτρεχες αὐτῷ καὶ μετὰ μοιχῶν τὴν μερίδα σου ἐτίθεις 19 τὸ στόμα σου ἐπλεόνασεν κακίαν καὶ ἡ γλῶσσά σου περιέπλεκεν δολιότητα 20 καθήμενος κατὰ τοῦ ἀδελφοῦ σου κατελάλεις καὶ κατὰ τοῦ υἱοῦ τῆς μητρός σου ἐτίθεις σκάνδαλον 21 ταῦτα ἐποίησας καὶ ἐσίγησα ὑπέλαβες ἀνομίαν ὅτι ἔσομαί σοι ὅμοιος ἐλέγξω σε καὶ παραστήσω κατὰ πρόσωπόν σου 22 σύνετε δὴ ταῦτα οἱ ἐπιλανθανόμενοι τοῦ θεοῦ μήποτε ἁρπάσῃ καὶ μὴ ᾖ ὁ ῥυόμενος 23 θυσία αἰνέσεως δοξάσει με καὶ ἐκεῖ ὁδός ᾗ δείξω αὐτῷ τὸ σωτήριον τοῦ θεοῦ 16 But thus, to the sinner, God speaks: How is it that thou canst repeat my commandments by rote, and boast of my covenant with thee, 17 and thou, all the while, hast no love for the amendment of thy ways, casting every warning of mine to the winds? 18 Swift thou art to welcome the thief who crosses thy path, to throw in thy lot with the adulterers. 19 Malice wells up from thy lips, and thy tongue is a ready engine of deceit; 20 thou wilt sit there in conclave, speaking evil of thy brother, traducing thy own mother’s son. 21 Such were thy ways, and should I make no sign? Should I let thee think I am such as thou? Here is thy reproof; here is thy indictment made plain to thee. 22 Think well on this, you that forget God, or his hand will fall suddenly, and there will be no delivering you. 23 He honours me truly, who offers me a sacrifice of praise; live aright, and you shall see the saving power of God. 16
Peccatori autem dixit Deus: Quare tu enarras justitias meas?
et assumis testamentum meum per os tuum?
17
Tu vero odisti disciplinam,
et projecisti sermones meos retrorsum.
18
Si videbas furem, currebas cum eo;
et cum adulteris portionem tuam ponebas.
19
Os tuum abundavit malitia,
et lingua tua concinnabat dolos.
20
Sedens adversus fratrem tuum loquebaris,
et adversus filium matris tuæ ponebas scandalum.
21
Hæc fecisti, et tacui.
Existimasti inique quod ero tui similis:
arguam te, et statuam contra faciem tuam.
22
Intelligite hæc, qui obliviscimini Deum,
nequando rapiat, et non sit qui eripiat.
23
Sacrificium laudis honorificabit me,
et illic iter quo ostendam illi salutare Dei.
